The debate as to whether art and issues mix continues. I believe that the two can  be brought together. Artworks capture attention, and by remaining topical, interest can be heightened around subjects that are crucial to the future of our world.
I have attempted to produce works that provide a visual commentary on issues of today and tomorrow, particularly concerning our environment and our consumer society. Whilst I have created ‘art’ from images of industrial waste and rubbish, in most paintings, I have included a degree of optimism for the future; optimism portrayed by factory smoke recycled to fields of flowers is an example. However, often the viewer is left to ponder if the image represents hope or despair for the future. I often juxtapose the real and the unreal in an attempt to create a message to those who view the painting.
I believe style and technique should be interesting, but the sense, sometimes optimistic, sometimes despairing and occasionally humorous are more important.
